With the weather starting to bite a little its a good time to reflect on the season and see how you can get more fun and enjoyment from the game
With that in mind i've created some programme's that allow us to look on you as an individual and work together and get you hittng the ground running in 2019 with all the knowledge and research that floods the golfing world these days you often need to have the done the study to be a PGA pro to decipher its use
This isn’t necessarily a bad thing as the Information Age has allowed coaches from opposite sides of the world to share thoughts and discussion but it does mean I often refer pupils to books that look more at how to build the journey while playing and practicing better A huge amount of my growth as an amateur was shaped by the information in the Middlecoff, Nicklaus and Penick books. They talk virtually nothing about technique yet made me practice better, review my performance objectively and view the game for what it is Like so much writing about sport in general it’s the journey and experience which shapes attitude and enhances habit which then makes the technical worthwhile We need a golf swing to play golf but we must never forget that golf is the game not swing So Sunday comes and one of my county squad asks if he can help out with weekend roll up and guess what?
Leads them to 2 up victory over Academy course, methinks i may have to increase his workload !!!!!! After 2 years of tooing and growing as a coach have had it officially confirmed that I've passed my ASQ Level 3 advanced coaching,
Now time to consider a research project on custom fit and coaching with reference to the shaft or relax and concentrate on the nuts and bolts of day to day ??!! First fitting with 2017 M1 up against 917 and have to say impressed with both. Strong young player with very positive angle of attack but really struggling with consistent contact so adjusted weight and saw big improvements. Went too strong with shaft and player really got things going whereas went back to old 913 with stiff phenom and couldn't get swing direction, face and path to marry up.
Epic has been the front runner but maybe TM have got their premium i never met him, didn't know him, he didn't even play competitively in my golfing life really yet got to thank Arnie for my golfing career
Him and Seve will be having a hell of a game now its time for my annual tournament outing and lo and behold get drawn with my home club, Normanby Hall, in Lombard National Pro Am qualifier at Little Aston
Has to be said one round of golf in 9 months, a driver never hit in anger before and an ankle problem needling weekly Physio isn't perfect prep but a fair showing with four birdies does fuel the enthusiasm Now if I can only find 2 hours a day to work not he putting and short game??!!!!! great to see my Girlsgolfrocks group taking it to Thornbury and glos county event
thanks to Debbie Casling and Paul Aitken for organising a great event and weather !!! |
